As of November 2009, there is no open information in the press and information sources about General Shlyakhturov. It is known that, prior to his appointment as the head of the GRU, he was the first deputy head of this General Directorate, responsible for strategic intelligence issues. Earlier he graduated from the Military Diplomatic Academy and served in the currency and finance department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs ( MFA of Russia ).
From June 30, 2011 - Chairman of the Board of Directors of Oboronservis OJSC [1] . From December 2, 2011, he is also the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the OJSC “Corporation“ Moscow Institute of Thermal Engineering ”OJSC [2] .
December 24, 2011, resigned from the post of head of the GRU [3]
December 26, 2011 Representative of the Ministry of Defense of Russia Igor Konashenkov confirmed that Colonel General Shlyakhturov was dismissed due to the age limit for military service. [4] Instead, the Main Intelligence Agency will be headed by Major-General Igor Sergun .
Since September 2014, he has been a member of the Board of Directors of Oboronservis OJSC (now - Garrison JSC ) [5] .
