History
In the 2000s, amateur club Orbis was organized in Makeevka. The team led by Igor Efremenko played in the championship of the region and the Cup of the Ministry of coal industry. The level of funding for the team was not high. "Orbis" was the only team of the major league championship of the region, which did not have a field for training and a stadium for matches [1] . Makeevtsy often played home games on the fields of rivals [1] . In addition, the players were not exempted from their main job [1] , while in the 2009 season they took sixth place in the tournament [1] .
In August 2009, the chairman of the Makeevka regional organization of the Independent Trade Union of Miners of Ukraine Anatoly Akimochkin proposed that Obris represent the state-owned Makeevugol enterprise at the Minugleprom Cup. To achieve a high result, several experienced performers were invited to the team, among them, in particular, Eduard Tsikhmeystruk , a pupil of Makeyevsky football [2] . At the tournament, the team confidently passed the group tournament. At the 1/4 final stage, the multiple winner of the Minugleprom tournaments Sverdlovsk Shakhtar was beaten by the sum of two matches. In the semi-finals of the tournament, the team of SE Torezanthracite (1: 0) was beaten. The final match was also won by Makeevtsy, defeating the Dzerzhinskugol GP team (1-0). Orbis took first place, and the Cup of the Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine for the first time left for Makeevka.
This success of Orbis drew the attention of the company's management to a young team. After two months, the management of the Makeevugol SE decided to continue cooperation with the team and bring it to a whole new level. Orbis changed its name to FC GP Makeevugol. The leadership of the club has also changed. The CEO of the enterprise Stanislav Tolchin became the honorary president of Makeevugol, and Anatoly Akimochkin took over as president of the club. The coaching staff of the team was headed by Spartak Zhigulin [2] . “Makeevugol” was announced to participate in the winter championship of Donetsk [1] . The tournament was completed in third place after the second-leg Olympic , and the non-replaceable champion of the Slavkhleb region. The next tournament - Makeevka winter championship was confidently won. In the spring, FC “Makeevugol” started in the championship of the region . The leadership of the team announced the opportunity to enter the second league [3] .
In 2010, the team became the finalist of the Minugleprom Cup (this time losing to the formidable Sverdlovsk Shakhtar ) and the bronze medalist of the regional championship . In 2011, Makeevugol took part in the championship of Ukraine among amateur teams , where it took 4th place out of 5 teams in the zone.
On June 20, 2011, by Decree No. 8 of the PFL Central Council, the Makeevugol team received the status of a professional club [4] .
Makeevugol began its debut season on a professional level in the second league tournament with virtually the same composition as it played in amateur tournaments. Having received a series of 12 defeats in a row, before the winter break in the championship, the Pitmen had a nine-point backlog from their closest competitor. In the winter offseason, work was done to strengthen the roster, the Makeyevka team began to regularly replenish the points balance, but the result turned out to be the same: the last place was the equality of points with Ilyichevts-2 [5] .
Since the beginning of the 2014/15 season, due to the military conflict in eastern Ukraine, the club has been forced to play in Nikopol , the stadium "Electrometallurg" has become the home arena [6] . At the end of the first part of the championship, the club’s general sponsor was forced to abandon the team. Until the end of the season, all expenses of the club were borne by the Independent Miners' Union of Ukraine, as a result of which the club changed its name to NPGU-Makeevugol [7] .
