Biography
Stuart "Stu" Hamm - one of those without which it is difficult to imagine modern music. An outstanding bass virtuoso, he showed what the instrument is capable of, significantly enriching the possibilities of its sound. Hamm's style, which combines flamenco, slap and two-handed tapping, brought him fame and recognition around the world. In his discography, recordings with the best musicians of recent decades: Steve Wye’s album Flex-Able (1984) and Passion and Warfare (1990); disks Joe Satriani Flying in a Blue Dream (1989), Time Machine (1993), Crystal Planet (1998); double CD / DVD concert Live in San Francisco (2001); and the Live album (1997) as part of the G3 band. Hamm's solo works have also been praised by music critics from around the world. Constantly on the crest of current trends, Hamm has always surprised the audience with innovation and an unconventional approach to writing music. Two magnificent instrumental albums Radio Free Albemuth (1988) and Kings of Sleep (1989) were followed by Hamme's first “song” disc, The Urge, which was attended by virtuoso guitarist Eric Johnson and notorious drummer Tommy Lee. This was followed by joint projects with Frank Gambale, pianist Chick Korea; Greg Bissonett, Billy Sheehan, Steve Smith and many others. In addition to the music itself, the maestro has two videos of the school Slap, Pop & Tap For The Bass and Deeper Inside the Bass.
Stu Hamm has repeatedly become "The Best Jazz and Rock Bassist" according to Guitar Player magazine, was recommended by Bass Player magazine as a "must-have bass player" and is a holder of the honorary title "Brilliant Berkeley Graduate".
