Sergey Igorevich Ponomarev (born December 11, 1980 ) is a Russian photojournalist, winner of the 2003 PressPhotoRussia main prize for reporting on the Nord-Ost Chronicles [1] [2] . Laureate of the Pulitzer Prize 2016 [3] [4] .

Biography
Born in 1980 in Russia.
In 2002, he was awarded the title of Laureate of the Russian Young Photographers Competition held by the Union of Russian Photographers [5] .
From 2003 to 2012, he worked as a photojournalist for the Moscow bureau of the American agency Associated Press , where he prepared reports for foreign readers from Russia , the CIS [6] and other countries of the world.
In 2005, he won first place in the Spot News category at the Atlanta Photojournalism Seminar contest for a series of shots from a terrorist school in Beslan.
Member of Eddie Adams Workshop in 2007 [7] .
In 2008, he won first place in the News Photo Essay category at the International Photography Awards for a series of pictures about illegal mines in Kyrgyzstan [8] .
Winner of the Grand Prix of Vilnius Photo Circle 2009 [9] .
In 2011, he took two first and one second place at the All-Russian photo contest "Sports Russia" [10] .
In 2012, he received the “Photography of the Year” Grand Prix at the Bestphotographer [11] .
In 2015, he took third place at World Press Photo in the General News nomination for a series of photographs from Gaza [12] .
In 2016, she won first place on World Press Photo in the General News nomination and the Pulitzer Prize in the Breaking News Photo nomination for photographs of refugees from the Middle East [13] [14] .
Third place in the “War” category at the PX3 competition “Prix de la Photographie, Paris” [15] .
Silver medal at the China International Press Photo contest [16] .
The author of a series of reports on neopaganism in Russia [17] [18] [19] .
Founder of the first in Russia thematic club of photojournalism lovers Motion Photojournalism Club, whose first meeting was held in 2009 [20] [21] .
In 2018, Ponomarev’s photographs from London and Afghanistan came out in the second issue of the self-published OWN Eugene Feldman [22] . This is the first personal paper publication by Sergei Ponomarev in Russia.
