Unofficial firmware
Attempts to hack PlayStation®3 software have been unsuccessful at the moment. The reason for this is probably the poor distribution of Blu-ray media. But already on the Internet there was information that the hacker George Hotz (geohot) had cracked a system-level security system that was resistant to cracking and gained access to some console resources such as system memory, as well as some system dumps. The hacker himself wrote in his blog that he did not intend to continue to actively engage in hacking the system, he relied on the strength and power of all other hackers interested in hacking Playstation®3, and therefore put online exploits that he discovered in the system. However, having learned about a partial hacking of the PlayStation®3 by hacker George Hotz, Sony decided that support for installing third-party software on older PlayStation 3 models will be removed in the new firmware, which was released on April 1, 2010. In September 2010, a video showing the Internet USB device operation - Jailbreak . They allow you to enter PS3 into service mode, which allows you to run unsigned applications. On December 29, 2010, the Console Hacking 2010 conference was held, which outlined how the PS3 protection works. It was announced that “PS3 protection is one big hole” and that the development of fail0verflow, which allows full control of the console, has begun. At the moment, the fail0verflow team announced that the system was completely hacked due to the extraction of the license key from the PS3, with which you can now sign any application or game and run it on the official firmware from SONY . Hackers claim that even if SCE releases the update, they will no longer be able to close any hole, etc., because for this they will have to write a new key, which will block the playback of content signed by the old key. However, Sony released the next update of system software (3.60), which finally eliminated the problem of hacking the console.
