Biography

In 1963 he graduated from the Albanian branch of the philological university of the A. A. Zhdanov Leningrad State University [1] .

From 1966 to 1970 he worked as a researcher at the Leningrad Branch of the Institute of Linguistics of the USSR Academy of Sciences . From 1970 to 1985, he was a junior researcher, then a senior researcher at the Institute of Linguistics of the USSR Academy of Sciences . In 1978 he defended his thesis for the degree of Doctor of Philology [1] . From 1985 to 1987 - scientific secretary, and from 1987 to 1993 - deputy academician-secretary of the Department of Literature and Language of the USSR Academy of Sciences for scientific and organizational work [1] .

In 1992-1995 - Director, and since 1995 - Deputy Director of the Institute of Languages ​​of the Peoples of Russia [1] .

At the same time, from 1982 to 1991, he was a professor at the Department of Germanic Languages ​​at the Military Institute of the USSR Ministry of Defense , and from 1991 to 2006, he was a professor and head of the Department of Literature Theory of Moscow State Linguistic University [1] .

Since 1994 - academician of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences .

Awards and Prizes
