After July 935, Raimund II inherited from his father Rüerg and Kersey , and in 936 from cousin Raimund III Pons Gothia , Aquitaine and Auvergne . During the reign of Raimund Ruerg, he gained suzerainty over neighboring territories, which allowed him to title himself Marquis of Gothia . Around 960, Raimund's possessions extended from Albi and Nimes to the north, all the way to Limousin . Raimund was the head of the clan who also ruled in Toulouse . He bought the flax possession of the Duke of Sancho V of Gascon , which became allodial after his death.
Until 936, Guillaume III of Aquitaine argued for the title of Duke of Aquitaine with Raimund Pons, and in 940 - 961 with his heir Raimund II. In 955, Raimund II lost Aquitaine and Auvergne, as the king of the West Frankish state Lothar recognized the title of Duke of Aquitaine as Hugo the Great . After the death of the latter, the title of the duke was inherited by his son Hugo Capet , but he never tried to conquer Aquitaine. In 962, King Lothar recognized Guillaume III as the Duke of Aquitaine, but by then Raimund II had already passed away.
In his will, drawn up before his death, Raimund II transferred part of his property to the church, and left some to his heirs and wife.
