The Yekaterinburg Suvorov Military School (EKSVU) is a pre-university military educational institution of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation , originally created on December 19, 1943 in Yelets under the name “Oryol IED” (OrSVU), in September 1947 it was transferred to Sverdlovsk and was originally called “Sverdlovsk IED” (SvSUU). History
August 1943 The Council of People's Commissars of the USSR adopts a resolution "On urgent measures to restore the economy in areas liberated from German occupation." It was with this document that the history of the creation of the Suvorov military schools began. In that war year, 9 Suvorov military schools were formed, including Oryol, which was originally deployed in the ancient Russian city of Yelets, Oryol Region. It is no coincidence that this city was chosen, formed in 1146 and famous for its history: the famous Kulikovo battle took place 100 km from it, and most importantly, in 1843 the Oryol Bakhtin cadet corps was located in Orel. After 100 years, the Oryol, and later the Sverdlovsk Suvorov Military School, became its successor.
The first head of the school is Major General Kuzmin Alexey Vasilievich. He stood at the origins of the formation of the Oryol IED. He not only clearly understood the duties assigned to him and the colossal responsibility, but also loved his young army - mischievous and careless. It was not easy for him, he started from scratch, but, having overcome incredible difficulties, in three months he managed to provide tolerant conditions for the work of the school.
The first set of pupils is 514 people. Among them are front-line soldiers: scouts, signalmen, sons of regiments, pupils of partisan detachments. Many of them not only knew what bombing and occupation, grief and deprivation were, but they themselves participated in battles with the German invaders. And for their exploits they received high, completely childish, government awards. Krasnikov Dima, Bogdanov Vitaliy, Valakhov Vladimir, Chernyak Victor, Zhenya Simpura. December 1, 1943 the bell rang, the first school year began. December 19 - in a festive atmosphere, the school was awarded the Battle Red Banner. The foundation day of the school is celebrated. Every year this holiday is celebrated in the district officer house.
The Yekaterinburg Suvorov Military School is one of the oldest participants in the Moscow parades of 1945 - Pervomaisky, Victory Parade and November 7th. The traditions of those years are remembered today.
In September 1947, the Oryol Suvorov Military School was transferred to Sverdlovsk and from May 1948 it became Sverdlovsk, and from April 1991 - Yekaterinburg.
In 1948, the first graduation of the Suvorovites took place. The first study students awarded gold and silver medals appeared: Yuri Chubarov and Evgeny Tyuryutikov (gold), Konstantin Churikov and Vladimir Anikanov (silver). Their names, like the names of all subsequent graduate medalists, are listed on the Hall of Fame in the foyer of the school. By 2012, the Yekaterinburg Suvorov Military School graduated with a medal "For special achievements in training" 705 people, including 306 with gold, 399 with silver.
In May 1953, the Sverdlovsk Suvorov Military School was reorganized into the Sverdlovsk Suvorov Military School. Pupils, having graduated from ten classes and having received secondary education, continued their training in the first year of the infantry battalion, leaving the school as officers.
In 1954, the first graduation of 100 people took place with the assignment of the military rank of lieutenant .
In September 1958, the last 4th graduation of 69 people took place.
In January 1958, the school was reformed again with the return of its former name - the Sverdlovsk Suvorov Military School.
Our time
In 1990, by order of the Commander-in-Chief of the Ground Forces, the Sverdlovsk Suvorov Military School was for the first time recognized as the best among the Suvorov Military Schools with the delivery of an honorary diploma and a passing prize of the Minister of Defense of the USSR - bust of Suvorov Alexander Vasilievich . Over the next few years, the school has not yielded its leadership among the Suvorov military schools and cadet corps of the Ministry of Defense of Russia. This is a huge merit of all the officer, teaching and civilian staff of the school. Yekaterinburg Suvorov Military School has an experienced teaching staff. More than 90% of school teachers have the highest and first qualification categories. Their work is daily directed at worthy training, as well as military, moral, aesthetic and physical education and development of the Suvorovites.
About 600 Suvorov students are trained at the school. Among which, the majority show excellent and good performance results. In order to motivate academic work, excellent students are systematically encouraged by a scholarship of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, a scholarship named after Hero of the Russian Federation Army General Viktor Kazantsev Germanovich , a graduate of 1963 3 companies of Suvorovites, a governor's prize named after Marshal of the Soviet Union Georgy Konstantinovich Zhukov , a scholarship from the regional public organization Union Urals ", a scholarship to the regional" Union of Reserve Officers ", a scholarship to the ruling bishop of the Yekaterinburg diocese.

But not only in training, Suvorovites are strong, high physical fitness and ability to overcome difficulties, albeit not the real, but still military service, are no less important for the future officer. During their studies, many become members of the school’s national teams in various sports, candidates and masters of sports, defending the honor of the ECSU at city, regional and district competitions. And it is not surprising that the school is traditionally the champion of the summer and winter Spartakiad IEDs and CC CVO.
“The best wins both in sport and in school!” - these words refer to the graduate of the 6th company of the Suvorov EKSVU in 2002, the silver medalist, master of sports of international class, who at 17 became the world kickboxing champion, Gennady Lisin .
Currently, the successor of the school's sporting glory, the bronze medalist of the championship of the European Championship in Sambo among youths, has become Suvorovets 10th grade Abdullaev Magomed.
The school is proud of its Suvorovites, rejoices in their successes and achievements. To date, the school has created an excellent educational and material and technical base that provides decent conditions for study, life and life. Particular attention is paid to intellectual and aesthetic development: visiting theaters and museums of the city, excursions to picturesque places of the region, walking around the city to get acquainted with architecture and historical monuments, meetings with writers, poets, artists, famous people.
