Bessemer Airport , ( ICAO : KEKY , FAA LID : EKY, formerly 2A3 ) is a state civilian airport located 4.8 kilometers southeast of downtown Bessemer ( Jefferson County , Alabama , USA ) [1] . The airport is owned by the city government [1] .

In accordance with the National plan for the development of the country's airport system for the period 2009-2013. The US Federal Aviation Administration has designated Bessemer Airport ancillary airports [2] , supporting the operations of Birmingham / Shuttlesworth International Airport [1] .
Operations
Bessemer Airport covers an area of 154 hectares , located at an altitude of 213 meters above sea level and operates one runway [1] [3] :
- 5/23 measuring 1831 x 30 meters with asphalt pavement.
Between January 24, 2006 and January 24, 2007, Bessemer Airport handled 102,600 takeoffs and landings of aircraft (an average of 281 operations daily), all flights were operated by general aviation . In this period, 167 aircraft were based at the airport, of which 90% were single-engine aircraft, 7% were multi-engine aircraft, and 2% were jet liners [1] .
