Biography
He studied organ playing at the Bratislava Conservatory , graduating in 1942 . Then he studied as a conductor with K. Chimple and Vaclav Talich , and in 1954 - 1955 he trained in Leningrad with Eugene Mravinsky . In the years 1955-1961. chief conductor of the Czechoslovak Radio Symphony Orchestra in Bratislava . In 1961 - 1981 headed the Slovak Philharmonic Orchestra , with which he recorded all the symphonies of Shostakovich . At the same time in 1972 - 1976 . was the head of the Prague Symphony Orchestra .
Ladislav Slovak is most famous as a performer of XX century music, including Prokofiev , Shostakovich (recorded the full cycle of his symphonies), Eugene Sukhony .
