Tournament History
In 1985 and 1986, the tournament was included in the Grand Prix grid, and in 1990 became one of the first tournaments (and the first major) [1] of the newly formed ATP tour.
The prize pool in 1985 and 1986 was $ 125,000 with 32 singles and 16 pairs, and in 1990 it was raised to $ 1.2 million with 56 singles and 28 pairs.
Only one player, Joakim Nuström from Sweden , managed to win two victories in the tournament, both in 1986 in singles and doubles. His compatriot Anders Yarrid and Kevin Carren played twice in the finals and won one victory each: Yarrid played singles and doubles in 1985, and Carren in 1985 singles (under the flag of South Africa ), and in 1990 in pairs (under USA flag).
