Title

Until 1917 - the bridge of the Church of the Resurrection .

After 1917 - the bridge Overlap .

In May 1975, the bridge was named the Grinevitsky Bridge in honor of the populist - the terrorist , the killer of Emperor Alexander II I. Grinevitsky , who threw a bomb at the tsar near the bridge, on the embankment, and died from the explosion.

In 1998, the bridge got its modern name from the nearby Konyushennaya Square (compare the names of the Bolshoy Konyushenny and Malo-Konyushenny bridges across the Moika).

History

A wide wooden beam bridge was built on this site in the early 1880s to facilitate the construction of the “Church of the Resurrection of Christ at the site of the mortal wound of the late Emperor Alexander II on the Catherine’s Canal” (this is the canonical name of the temple). During the construction period, the bridge was up to 115 m wide (for comparison, the widest bridge in St. Petersburg to date, the Blue Bridge across the Moika , is 97.3 m wide). After the construction of the temple was completed in 1907, the bridge was abandoned and received the name "Bridge of the Resurrection of the Lord" - this name lasted until 1917. (in many sources, the “Ascension Bridge” was mistakenly called. Actually, the present Ascension Bridge and now crosses the Griboedov Canal in the alignment of Voznesensky Prospekt). After the October Revolution of 1917, it was officially renamed the bridge-overlap , according to its structure and purpose. Throughout its existence, the wooden bridge has been rebuilt several times.

The current reinforced concrete bridge was built in 1967 according to the project of engineers Yu. L. Yurkov, L. N. Sobolev and architect L. A. Noskov. The supporting frame of the bridge was made in the form of consoles, coupled with an imperfect hinge . A similar constructive technique was applied for the first time in Leningrad; later it was repeated many times. Supports form the reverse arch.
