Biography
In 1935, after graduating from high school in Wadowice , he entered the novitiate of the monastic order of pallottinas. In September 1939, during the evacuation of the seminary to the east of the country, he fell into the Soviet zone of occupation of Poland, from where he managed to escape to the town of Oltazhev . In 1941, after graduating from the theological studies, he accepted ordination as a priest, after which he continued to study philosophy in the secret courses of the Warsaw Sociological University and at the same time secretly performed pastoral duties as a chaplain for the Home Army. In the last days of the Warsaw Uprising, it was captured by German troops. September 23, 1944 after lengthy torture was executed.
Glorification
04/14/1945 his remains were exhumed and buried in a mass grave in Warsaw. In the name of Joseph Stanek, a chapel is named in the Museum of the Warsaw Uprising and an alley in the Marshal Edward Rydz-Smigly Memorial Park in Warsaw. On June 13, 1999, he was beatified by Pope John Paul II along with other Polish martyrs of World War II . Memorial Day - June 12th .
