Clan ( Kindred: The Embraced ) is an American television series based in part on the role-playing game Vampire: The Masquerade . The series premiered on April 2, 1996 . Eight episodes were released, after which on May 9, 1996 the series was canceled. The action takes place in the city of San Francisco , around police detective Frank Cohanac, who discovers that numerous vampires are hiding among people in the city, and Julian Luna, the “prince of the city”, the patron of various vampire clans. Vampires hide their essence, following the rules of "masquerade", and Julian, using his influence on various companies, helps in every way to keep the existence of vampires secret.
