One Year of Love ( Rus. One year of love ) - a rock ballad of the British band Queen . It was written in 1985 - 1986 by the bassist of the band John Deacon and was released on the album A Kind of Magic .

The song was released as a single only in France and Spain , on the side “B” were recorded “Gimme the Prize” (on all singles), “ Seven Seas of Rhye ” (in French 12 “ single and“ Princes of the Universe ”( in Spanish 12 "single). In the United States in 1992, the song was released only on a promotional single. The charts of" One Year of Love "were not included [1] .
Features
The song was originally written as the soundtrack for the film " Highlander " and is his love theme: the immortal Connor MacLeod, who lived for more than a century, once fell in love with a mortal, was very saddened by the death of his beloved and was afraid for a long time to fall in love with someone, but in the 20th century fell in love with the journalist Brenda Whitet
The band's guitarist Brian May did not participate in the recording, instead a string orchestra participated in the recording (conductor - Linon Nave ) . There is also a saxophone part in the song, performed by Steve Gregory .
This song contains references to another song written by John Deacon (with Freddie Mercury ) - “ Pain Is So Close to Pleasure ”.
