Hydroxypregnenolone (17ฮฑ-hydroxypregnenolone) is a steroid , one of the intermediate participants in steroidogenesis. Formed from pregnenolone using the enzyme 17-alpha-hydroxylase . In turn, it is converted by the same enzyme to dehydroepiandrosterone , and by the enzyme 3-beta-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase to 17-hydroxyprogesterone .
