- Cherkasy ( Ukrainian: Cherkasy ) is the airport of Cherkasy in Ukraine .
History
- In the 1980s, the airport served up to 80 flights per day.
- In 1992, the number of flights fell sharply. Of the more than 1.5 thousand employees, a significant part was dismissed.
- In 2002, the airport was temporarily closed.
- In March 2007, airport operations were resumed.
- From 2007 to 2009, the airport was reconstructed, the runway and the air terminal were updated.
- 22nd of May 2009, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine assigned the municipal enterprise “Cherkassy Airport” international status. At the end of 2009, work was underway to create and open a border checkpoint to give the airport international status. An agreement was signed on cooperation with the Ukrainian airline Urga, which provides air transportation with Western Europe, the CIS countries, Syria, Egypt and other countries of the world. [one]
- As of 2014, the airport serves only charter flights in Ukraine.
- Since 2018, repair work has been ongoing on the reconstruction of the runway, as well as the reconstruction of the passenger terminal. Ukrainian airlines SkyUp and Bukovyna are interested in Cherkasy airport in terms of flights to Ukraine and abroad in the future.
