Story
One of the colleges of the Northwest of the USA, part of the Ivy League . A gifted, but not wealthy student, Lucas McNamara once receives an offer to join the elite closed society “Skulls”. He successfully passes rather difficult tests, enters this secret box and becomes the twin of the “skull by birth” of Kaleb Mandrake. It turns out that many representatives of both the university and business and political elites belong to society. “Skulls Above All” is their motto. The young man's future prospects are becoming more rosy. The price for this is unlimited devotion to the bed and complete secrecy about her affairs.
Luke promises to remain the same as he was before, but with time he moves away from both his campus friend Will Beckford and his girlfriend Chloe Whitfield. Will breaks into Kaleb’s car and steals the key to the crypt of the Order. That evening, Luke finds his neighbor hanged in his room. The police find out that the young man before the death received a blow to the back of the head, and Chloe tells Luke that Will was preparing an article about “Skulls”. McNamara asks a direct question to Kaleb and his father, the master of the order, Judge Lytton Mandrake, to which he receives the answer that Beckford died in an accident.
However, Luke is not content with this explanation. He, with the help of his childhood friends, finds out about the place where the records of the order are stored, but the “Skulls” manage to track him down. Mandrake Sr. conducts a decision on the hospitalization of McNamara in a psychiatric hospital on the lodge council. In turn, the young man penetrates the record store and finds a cassette with the recording of the ill-fated evening. When viewing it, it turns out that Kaleb really believed that Will was dead, but Mandrake Sr. decided to kill an amateur journalist. The direct executor of the murder was college vice-rector Martin Lombard.
Luke hands the tape over to the police, however, upon viewing it turns out that there is nothing on the cassette. The young man is forcibly placed in a psychiatric hospital. Chloe, with the help of Senator Ames Levrit, sister of Mandrake Sr., manages to rescue his friend from the hospital. Remembering the rules of the order, Luke goes to the island where the “Skulls” are gathering, where he challenges Kaleb to a duel. However, under the influence of information about the circumstances of the death of Will, Mandrake Jr. shoots at his own father. As a result, Senator Levrit becomes the master of the order, to which he, in fact, strove. The new head of the box invites Luke to renew his membership in society, but the young man leaves ...
