In the last race of the season, Ferrari strengthened its composition, taking a newcomer Jonathan Williams to Chris Amon. Jochen Rindt was unable to pay for his start at Cooper and did not take part in the race. Instead, Pedro Rodriguez recovered from the August accident. Clark won the pole, and his teammate was able to get around Dan Gurney and Chris Amon.
At the start, Gurney crashed into Clark's Lotus at the back, damaged the radiator of his Needle, and on the fifth lap he lost the race. Hill took the lead in the first lap, but already in the second he lost to Clark, and later came down due to a broken axle shaft. Clark won the race, Chris Amon walked second for a long time, but three laps before the finish at his Ferrari fuel outages began and the speed of the car dropped sharply. This allowed Denny Hume and Jack Brabham to rise to the podium and celebrate the victory in both championships. Amon was originally ranked in fifth place, but later the last lap, which was too slow for classification, was subtracted from his result.
