Distribution
They live in several regions of the Earth. About 200 species. In North America, 16 species from 6 genera are found. Most North American species live in the west. In a fossil state, the family is known from the Eocene of France: Eubrianax sp. (Bertrand, Laurantiaux, 1963) [1] [2] .
Ecology and habitats
The larva lives in the water and clings to the underside of the stone during a rapid flow of water. Adult beetles roam along the rivers.
Nutrition
Larvae eat algae.
