Academician of the Academy of Arts of the USSR ( 1975 ; corresponding member 1970 ). People's Artist of the USSR ( 1977 ). Laureate of the Stalin Prize of the second degree ( 1950 ) of the State Prize of the RSFSR named after I. E. Repin ( 1969 ).
Biography
Yu. P. Kugach was born on March 8 (21), 1917 in Suzdal (now Vladimir Region ).
1936 - graduated from the Moscow Isotekhnikum in memory of 1905 . Teachers: N.P. Krymov , K.F. Morozov.
Since 1939 - a participant in art exhibitions.
1942 - Moscow State Art Institute named after V.I. Surikov .
1945 - Graduate School of Moscow State Art Institute named after V.I. Surikov. Teachers: S.V. Gerasimov , N. Kh. Maksimov , I.E. Grabar .
In 1948 - 1951 - teaching at the Moscow State Art Institute named after V.I. Surikov.
Full member of the Academy of Arts of the USSR since 1975 .
Paintings of Yu. P. Kugach are in collections of the State Tretyakov Gallery , the Russian Museum , art museums of Russia , Ukraine , and in private collections in Russia and abroad: in the USA , Germany , Spain , France , Japan .
He died on April 23, 2013 in the village of Maly Gorodok, Vyshnevolotsky District, Tver Region . The cause of death is a hernia of the cervical spine after knee replacement.
He was buried at Serebryannichesky cemetery in the village of Sadovy on April 26, 2013.
