This album was the last Slayer album recorded in gold with Dave Lombardo, who left the band in February 2013, and Jeff Hanneman, who died on May 2 of that year.
About the album
Slayer recorded 13 songs in the studio, 7 songs were written by Jeff Hanneman and 6 songs by Kerry King, but only 11 songs were included in the final version of the album. [18] World Painted Blood sold over 41,000 copies in the United States in its first week, and finished # 12 on the Billboard 200 . [nineteen]
In an interview, Slayer guitarist Kerry King revealed the upcoming World Painted Blood album, which was released in early November via American Recordings / Sony Music . Also, the official website confirmed the title of the 10th album “World Painted Blood” . [20] On August 20, 2009, Roadrunner Records confirmed the album's song list. [21] On September 15, 2009, album covers were demonstrated. The album is released with four different covers, if you combine them together, you get an image of a world map covered in blood. [22]
Kerry King on recording the album “I like it when Jeff Hanneman writes as much as this time,” says Kerry King. “When there is a guy who does most of the work of composing music and lyrics, you have only one perspective. Most of Jeff's stuff is very punk. Those songs that I composed sound like thrash, but with a little punk, and when Jeff writes the music, you get punk with some trash. All this sounds great together. ”
Dave Lombardo said about recording the album in an interview with Capital Chaos: “Recording this disc was one of the band’s best experiences to date. We gathered during the recording process, much more than during the recording of previous albums. We worked more collectively, every proposal or idea was taken into account and this affected the sound of the album, so I am definitely proud of this album, and I am sure that other guys too. ” [23]
Album Edition
The album World Painted Blood was released in three versions - a limited CD with a multi-page booklet, a deluxe CD / DVD , and a high-quality 180-gram vinyl version. The DVD contains a 20-minute film Playing With Dolls directed by Metalocalypse and longtime Slayer fan Mark Brooks, [24] which is included in the gift edition of World Painted Blood . [25] The film was inspired by the songs of the album “World Painted Blood” - in particular, “Playing With Dolls” by Jeff Hanneman, whose name he bears, and combines elements of animation and photography in a style similar to the style of the graphic novel. The soundtrack for the video “Playing With Dolls” includes a video with excerpts of all eleven songs from the album “World Painted Blood” , in addition, the music for chapter 7 is taken from “Atrocity Vendor”, a new song that is not included in the album. [26]
Singles
The first single from the new album was the song " Psychopathy Red " about serial killer Andrei Chikatilo , the single was released on red vinyl in the form of a 7-inch disc on April 18, 2009. [27] [28] On July 28, 2009, the second single " Hate Worldwide " was released, this single was released as a CD, exclusively available only through the Hot Topic . [29] The album's title track and third single, World Painted Blood, was released on September 28, 2009 via MySpace Slayer. [thirty]

I live here, and this is one of the best places in the world that I have ever discovered for myself. So go to hell if you don't love America. ” [24]
