" Dawson's Creek " ( English Dawson's Creek ), in the Russian translation of "Summer of our hopes" - an American series about teenage life . The series is a partial autobiography of its creator Kevin Williamson and is based on facts from his childhood spent in a small town. Dawson Leary, the main character, has the same past and interests as Kevin Williamson. The series takes place in the fictional city of Capeside ( Massachusetts ), located on the coast, and focuses on the lives of four friends who entered the 10th grade of a comprehensive school at the very beginning of the series.

Story
Events unfold around the lives of teens from the small town of Cape Side, located in Massachusetts . First love, first sexual experience, joys and sorrows - this is what the heroes of the series face. The older they get, the more serious their problems.
Season 1
Dawson ( James Van Der Beek ) is a guy from a wealthy and prosperous family. His passion is cinema, and he dreams of becoming a director. His neighbor Joey ( Katie Holmes ) has a different story: her mother died, her father is behind bars, and she is raised by an older sister who is pregnant from her black boyfriend. Joey and Dawson grew up together. Their houses are located on opposite shores of the bay. Joey often visits Dawson and even sleeps with him. But she almost never uses the front door, but climbs a stepladder through the window of his room on the second floor.
Slugger and Pacey loser ( Joshua Jackson ), son of the sheriff of Cape Side, the youngest of five children. Dawson considers him and Joey to be his best friends, while Pacey and Joey can not stand each other.
The guys begin to go to high school. Joey dreams that their relationship with Dawson will develop further, since she is in love with him, but the naive Dawson believes that everything can go on just like in childhood.
Three friends make a film on the shore of the bay when granddaughter Jen ( Michelle Williams ) from New York arrives at Mrs. Ryan’s neighbor. Parents sent a “difficult” child away from the temptations of a big city for re-education to a devout grandmother. Dawson falls in love with Jen, to Joey's displeasure. However, Jen's frankness about her life in New York, full of drugs and sex, scares Dawson and does not fit into his romantic and idealistic picture of the world, and he breaks up with Jen.
Pacey has an affair with a woman much older than him, who is also his English teacher, Tamara Jacobs. After their romance becomes public, Tamara is forced to leave the city.
In an attempt to make friends with Joey, Jen invites her to take part in the Cape Side beauty contest, where the main prize is $ 5,000. The poor Joey needs the money, and she agrees. When Dawson sees Joey on stage in an evening dress and makeup, he realizes that she has grown and sees her from a completely new perspective. He realizes that he has romantic feelings for her. Their kiss ends the first season.
Season 2
The second season tells of the difficult relationship between Dawson and Joey. They begin to meet, but there are many problems and omissions, because of which they part. Pacey meets Andy ( Meredith Monroe ), and Joey begins an affair with Jack ( Kerr Smith ), Andy's brother. Dawson makes a film about his life and love for Joey. Jen falls into a bad company, but soon, realizing her mistakes, she changes and begins to help Dawson in the filming and selection of actors. Jack is accused of being gay, which complicates their relationship with Joey.
Dawson's parents are about to get a divorce. The relationship between Pacey and Andy had a positive effect on both - Pacey, to his surprise, began to get good grades at school, and Andy found support and support in Pacey in a difficult time for her family. However, by the end of the season, their relationship began to crack due to the fact that Andy was unable to cope with the death of her older brother Tim, and her father sends her to a psychiatric clinic.
Meanwhile, Joey's father is returning from prison, and the family is trying to establish a normal life. However, Dawson discovers that Mr. Potter continues to trade in drugs. He tells Joey about this and forces the girl to hand over her father to the police. Joey does what the law requires, but tells Dawson that it's all over between them, and she will never forgive him for Dawson destroying her family.
Season 3
After the parents divorced, Dawson spent the summer with his mother in Philadelphia. He returns home on the bus, where he meets the mysterious fellow traveler Eva Whitman ( Brittany Daniel ). Eve quickly shows signs of antisocial behavior.
Joey tries to establish a relationship with Dawson and even offers himself to him, but Dawson rejects it. Incredibly upset, Joey runs away. Concerned for her, Dawson asks Paisie to look after her, to help, which he does, quietly falling in love with a girl.
Meanwhile, Dawson's father, Mitch ( John Wesley Shipp ), becomes the coach of the school football team, where Jack McPhee becomes the lead player still suffering ridicule from classmates because of his homosexual orientation.
Andy is returning home from the hospital where she spent the whole summer, but their reunion with Pace is clouded by the mystery of what happened to Andy in the summer. Pacey, unexpectedly for everyone, begins an affair with Joey - now the relationship of friends is under threat.
Jen begins an affair with Henry Parker ( Michael Pitt ), who is younger than her. Because of this, Jen does not take the young man and his feelings seriously.
Meanwhile, Joey is completely confused: the girl is trying to choose between Dawson and Pacey, and Jack has the first guy Ethan ( Adam Kaufman ).
Dawson's parents Gale and Mitch after the death of a close family friend understand that their problems are insignificant in comparison with their love and marry again in the finale of the third season.
Season 4
Joey and Pacey are wonderful together, but the lovers feel guilty before Dawson for the pain they caused him. However, soon another problem appeared in their life - Pacey was forced to move to live with her sister Gretchen. At the same time, the couple Joey and Pacie still did not have intimacy.
The unexpected news is the pregnancy of Dawson's mother, Gale ( Mary-Margaret Humes ).

Joey continues to study in college, moonlighting as a waitress in a bar and begins to meet with fellow student and colleague Eddie. Pacey gets a job at a stock exchange firm and continues to date Audrey. However, the difference in worldviews leads to problems in their relationship. Dawson works as an assistant director and meets with actress Natasha. In the middle of the season, almost all friends come to Capeside for Christmas to celebrate with Dawson. Audrey, suffering from alcoholism, spoils the evening voicing accusatory speech. It ends up breaking through the wall of the house with a new Pacey machine.
After breaking up with the other halves, Pacey and Joey are getting closer again. After the party and night in the mall, they begin a new romance. Dawson, meanwhile, spends a lot of time with his mother and sister. Jen has a new guy with whom she quietly falls in love. Jack also meets a new guy, but it does not lead to anything serious. Joe and Pacey are breaking up again due to the return of her former friend Eddie to the city. Pacey goes deeper into the work, he has a lot of money and things are noticeably going uphill. Pacey turns to Dawson and asks to invest the money he has with the greatest profit. Pacey at first refuses, but because of persuasion, takes the money and puts it into circulation.
Joey is left alone again, as Eddie once again disappears from her life. Pacey put his money on clients' money too risky and they all disappeared. Dawson and Pacey realize that they have long ceased to be friends, and even Joey cannot reconcile them. Pacey still manages to fix the situation, and he returns the money to Dawson, thanks to which he was able to invest them in the shooting of his series. Audrey becomes a singer.
Five years later, the heroes meet again in Cape Side for the wedding of Dawson's mother Gale. Dawson successfully shoots a series about his youth. Pacey opened a successful restaurant on the site of the Potters restaurant, Ice House, which burned out in the second season. Jack teaches at school and secretly meets with his brother Pacey Doug, who is now Cape Side's sheriff. But their relationship is complicated by the fact that Doug is afraid to open up to society in his homosexuality. Jen alone brings up the one-year-old daughter Amy and suffers from incurable pulmonary edema. At the wedding, Gail Jen faints and gets to the hospital, where she tells friends about her condition and says goodbye to them. By her dying will, her daughter will be raised by Jack, possibly with Doug. Joey promises Jen to stop running away and explains to Dawson and Pacey: Dawson is her soul mate and this is forever, more than anything else. Pacey is the one she always loved with true love. In the last scene of the film, sitting in their New York apartment, Joey and Pacey watch the series “Cove” together, Pacey cries from the excess of feelings caused by the series and they call Dawson to congratulate them on their success. To which Dawson replies that he will meet Spielberg tomorrow.

Filming took place in the cities of Wilmington and Durham ( North Carolina ).
