Sikandar Bagh , Sikandra Bagh , or Secundra Bagh ( Hindi सिकन्दर बाग़ , Urdu سِکندر باغ ) is a villa and garden located in Lucknow , Uttar Pradesh , India . It was built by Nawab Auda Vajid Ali Shah (1847-1856), as a summer palace. The name comes from the name of his beloved wife Sikandar Mahal Begum.

Content
History
In 1800, the royal garden en: Saadat Ali Khan II was located on this site, later it was improved by the Avadha nabob en: Wajid Ali Shah , the last king of Avadha. Numerous performances were given in the garden, the famous dances “Ras-lilas”, “Kathak” were staged, as well as other cultural events were held, the lover of which was known to enob Wajid Ali Shah .
Indian National Uprising of 1857
During the siege of Lucknow during the Indian National Uprising of 1857, it was used as a refuge for hundreds of sepoys . The villa was captured on November 16, 1857 and the British killed 2,000 sepoys in it. The British dead were buried in a deep ditch, and the bodies of the dead sepoys were left to rot. At the beginning of 1858, Felix Beato took famous photographs with the remains of the dead sepoys scattered throughout the complex.
Modernity
The cannonballs , swords , shields , muskets and rifles excavated in the complex are now on display at the Indian National Institute of Botanical Research .
Also, a monument in honor of a historical battle was recently built on the territory of the complex: a statue of a Parsi girl fighting side by side with sepoys , in male combat clothing, supposedly defending herself on a tree and holding back the British with fire from a rifle until the moment when she ran out of bullets , and she riddled with bullets, fell to the ground.
