Umbra (graphics)

Umbra is a subroutine designed to optimize graphics engines by occlusive cropping , which removes hidden surfaces before rasterization and shaders are applied to them. Umbra was developed by the Finnish company Umbra Software . [1] [2]

Umbra is a cross-platform subprogram that integrates with other software products, optimizing and thus increasing the frame rate and increasing the efficiency and speed of the content pipeline. [2]

In the process, Umbra determines the set of visible and invisible objects in each frame, determining which objects are visible and which are not from the point of view of the camera.
