Glade of fairy tales (film)

The city leadership of the fabulous city of Great Guslyar launches a balloon to use it to install a statue of the Great Guslyar on a pedestal. But the balloon soars uncontrollably into the sky, taking with it Kuzma Lichikova. Having jumped during the descent, Kuzma wanders through the forest and accidentally discovers the mysterious cave in which the Sleeping Princess rests. Unable to resist, the hero kisses her. The girl wakes up.

Lichikov and Marya Tsarevna fell in love. For the beloved, Kuzma builds a hut in the meadow, which is decorated with fairy-tale figures carved from wood.

“The head of urban culture” Batyev comes to restore order in the territory entrusted to him. He orders the demolition of the illegal building, but the city residents are against it. The head of the city became interested in the question. He comes with a commission to inspect the buildings, finds them interesting, treats Kuzma favorably, but invites him to use the clearing as a venue for city public events, in return promising a separate apartment for the young family.

Lichikov begins to carve sculptures according to " state orders ", displaying "guidance" of the authorities in the tree. He is appointed director of the “House of Creativity“ Fairy Glade ”” and as a result, he becomes a cultural official. Quickly drawn into the bureaucratic process, which is why serious problems begin in his personal life. Mary is dissatisfied with the changes taking place in Kuzma, and the hero has to make considerable efforts to return her love.

• The shooting took place in Yalta . In the city there is a real open-air museum, which is also called the " Glade of Fairy Tales ". ^[1] Just as the hero of the picture Kuzma Lichikov, craftsman P. P. Bezrukov created all the exhibits with his own hands, carving it from wood.
• Songs in the film were performed by specially invited singer Leonid Serebrennikov . Subsequently, he often performed them in his concert programs. ^[2]
• The prototype of Kuzma Lichikov, the protagonist of the film, was Eric , the character of Bulychev’s short stories “Goldfish Are On Sale” and “Unworthy Athlete”. It is noteworthy that in the movie "Golden Fish" his name is also not Eric , but Misha . The sleeping princess in the work is also called not Mary , but Lena ^[3]
• The film turned out to be such a free arrangement of the work of Cyrus Bulychev that the science fiction even demanded to remove his name from the credits. Over time, the conflict was settled. ^[four]
• Although the script of the film only remotely relates to the works of Bulychev, in one of the episodes (masterfully played by actor L. Okrent) you can find out the storyline of the story “District domino competitions”.
