Story
Howard Brackett is a respected middle-aged school teacher in a small American town who is preparing to marry with his fiancée Emily, also a school teacher. One day, the whole city watches on television the Oscar movie award, in which Cameron Drake is a native of the town, a school graduate and Howard’s student among the nominees. Cameron is nominated for the role of a gay soldier in a military drama. When Cameron wins, he goes on stage and delivers a traditional thank-you speech, in which he thanks his school teacher, Howard Brackett, and suddenly for some reason he says that Howard is gay .
Cameron's statement shocked Howard, his family, friends, colleagues, students - in short, the whole town. Howard is not gay, but everyone instantly begins to "notice" oddities behind him - he is an old bachelor, is not seen in courtship of women, he decided to marry his lover already in adulthood after a very long and "unnatural" romantic courtship, loves poetry, loves dancing and Barbara Streisand, wears a bow-tie and dresses extremely whimsically ... As a result, Howard has difficulties with his bride, friends, at work ... In addition, he was started to be processed by the famous openly gay television journalist Peter Maloy. Peter is an activist in the fight for gay rights, I’m sure that Howard is gay, which he himself does not suspect, insists that Howard publicly declare his homosexuality so that he can live easier. Well, at the same time it will help Peter make an excellent storyline and support the gay movement.
Meanwhile, Cameron Drake gets information about the consequences of his spontaneous act at the Oscars, and the actor goes to his hometown to help Howard ...
Meanwhile, Howard resolutely dismisses all suspicions to end the rumors; he speeds up preparations for the wedding. The culmination of history is the marriage ceremony ...
