Krupina ( Slovak. Krupina , German. Karpfen , Hungarian. Korpona ) is a city in central Slovakia at the foot of the Stjavnicki Vrhov and Krupinska Planina . The population is about 8 thousand people.

History
Krupina and Trnava are the oldest cities in Slovakia . Krupina received city rights in 1238 , although it was first mentioned in 1135 in a letter to King Bela II . Krupina then stood on the famous Magna Via trade route leading from the Baltic to the Adriatic . In 1241, the Krupin was burned by the Mongol-Tatars . In the XIV century, Krupina was known for “Krupinsky city law”, which many cities wanted, for example, Ruzomberok , Zilina , Prievidza and others. In the XV century, Krupin was repeatedly besieged by the Hussites . In the sixteenth century the Turks attack the city, Krupina builds powerful fortifications that the Turks could never take by siege. In the 18th century, Krupin was burnt by hens . In 1919 , the city was sacked by the Hungarian Red Army .
Currently, Krupina is the district center of the Bansko Bystrica Region .
