The name has been known since 1951 [1] and is given by the nearby Sennaya Square.
History
The first bridge at this place was built in 1931 for laying heating pipes of Lenenergo, as well as for pedestrian traffic [2] . It was a wooden beam bridge on a wooden pile base. Due to complete decay and, as a consequence of the emergency state of the span, in 1952 the bridge was replaced with a new metal [3] . The project was completed at the Lendormostproekt Institute by an engineer P. V. Bazhenov [4] . It was planned to install floor lamps on the bridge from the reconstructed Novo-Kamenny bridge , but these plans were not implemented [5] .
In 2017, the Hay Bridge was closed for overhaul [6] , while it was completely dismantled [7] .
Construction
Single span metal bridge. The span consists of two steel twin beams with a height of 0.8 m in the locks. The upper and lower girdle belts are outlined by compass curves of different radii, which gives an increase in the height of the beams at the supports up to 1.26 m [3] . The main beams are supported by the walls of the canal embankment. The width of the bridge is 2.3 m, the length is 22.5 m [2] . The bridge walkway is wooden. Iron railings, simple pattern.
