CRTC1 ( eng. CREB-regulated transcription coactivator 1 ), also known as TORC1 ( eng. target of rapamycin complex 1 ) is a protein that in humans is encoded by the gene CRTC1 . [1] [2] [3] [4] It is expressed in a limited number of tissues, which in the fetus include the brain and liver, and in adults, the heart, skeletal muscle, liver, and salivary glands. [5] TORC1 attracted the attention of Russian-language media [6] in connection with publications in the scientific press about the alleged connection of this gene with infertility and obesity.
