Jointer
Joiner (from German Fugbank ) is intended for final processing of wood. It is used when it becomes necessary to smooth a large surface, as well as for joining edges of long parts. Structurally, it is a long planer with a double knife. A plug is installed in front of the jointer block, designed to loosen the knife by attaching it with a mallet . The jointer block is supplied with the handle which is located behind a knife.
Homemade jointer handle
When the jointer planes an initially uneven surface, chips are obtained in the form of small pieces, and when repeated passes are continuous, which indicates that the surface to be machined has become smooth.
Smaller surfaces are treated with a semi-jointer, which is shorter and narrower than the jointer.
