Biography
He graduated from the University of Tübingen . For some time he lived at the court of Joachim I of Brandenburg , where he was a court mathematician and astronomer. Later he met the Prussian Duke Albrecht , on behalf of whom he led various diplomatic missions.
Later, Karion joined the Reformation movement and was in contact with Martin Luther and Philip Melanchthon . Under the influence of the latter, Karion began writing the world chronicle. The main work of Karion was the work "Chronik des Weltzeitalters" (Chronicle of the Ages of the World), written under the influence of the Reformation, originally in German and only then translated into Latin . The first version of the chronicle was largely corrected by Melanchthon . Karion himself brought his chronicle to 1532 , but later Johann Funk brought it to 1546 . Later, the chronicle was called "Chronica (Chronicon) Carionis." The Carion Chronicle is characterized by an understanding of history as the disclosure of divine providence, but at the same time it contained elements of the humanistic historiography of the Renaissance . The Carion Chronicle has long served as a history textbook in Protestant schools.
