History and Celebration
On September 14, 2006, the head of the Federal Penitentiary Service, Yuri Ivanovich Kalinin, signed an order [1] , according to which October 31 was declared a professional holiday - “The Day of Prison and Prison Workers”.
The date for the "day of workers in pre-trial detention centers and prisons" was not chosen by chance: on October 31, 1963, the Board of the Ministry of Public Order of the RSFSR decided to create pre-trial detention centers in the Soviet Union as a new type of penitentiary system .
“Day of Prison and Prison Workers” is a professional holiday for more than 50 thousand people working in the structure of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia.
