Story
Katherine ( Gwyneth Paltrow ) is caring for her father ( Anthony Hopkins ) - a crazy mathematician. When he dies, his best student ( Jake Gyllenhaal ) parses his notes, hoping to find a discovery among them. Katherine believes that he is trying to steal her father's ideas. Her sister Claire ( Hope Davis ) comes from New York and begins to doubt the adequacy of Katherine herself.
