History
On April 25, 2006, Freedom of the Seas left Hamburg after the ceremonial handover of the vessel by shipbuilders to the customer - “ Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. ". The vessel was built in Finland, and in Hamburg an urgent check of the steering wheel with docking was carried out, as the sensors showed the presence of chips in the oil. Freedom of the Seas went on its first voyage, the transatlantic run to Miami, but along the way the liner went to Oslo , Southampton and New York .
May 10, 2006 Freedom of the Seas entered the port of New York .
Ship Equipment
The Freedom of the Seas has become a new milestone in the design of cruise ships. Never before have there been ships with such huge and spacious passenger spaces - giant walking decks and lounges, spacious cabins with huge balconies, an ice rink and a climbing wall, hanging solarium pools (they were built on special wings that extend beyond the boundaries of the sides, and indeed hang above the water). Another distinctive feature is gigantic, flat-panel TV screens installed in cabins and public places. The ship is free of hundreds of kilometers of wires and cables due to the widespread use of WiFi technology and mobile phones of the ship's PBX .
Freedom of the Seas is one of the world's largest cruise ships in terms of displacement , height and number of passengers. With a length of 339 meters, the Freedom of the Seas is slightly shorter than its rival (only 6 meters), Queen Mary 2 , but 15 meters wider and far exceeds its passenger capacity. Queen Mary 2 takes 2,620 passengers, while the new giant takes 4,370 passengers and 1,360 crew members. The exception is the Oasis of the Seas class vessels of 5,400 passengers and 2,165 crews, as well as 6,400 passengers are received by the later-built twin Allure of the Seas .
Interesting Facts
On the liner passed the qualifying round of the ninth season of the American TV show Top model in American style .
