History

Since the mid 1580s. land at the confluence of the Klekotin river into the Murafu (left tributary of the Dniester ) was acquired by the head of the city of Znyak from Prince M. Yazlovetsky. On the territory of the village of Verkhnyaki, he built a castle and laid a little place, which at first was called Rygrod, then Novogrod, then Klokotin and finally Morahva.

In 1629, Murafa was the border town of the Podolsk province. Compared to other voivodship settlements, Murafa with a population of more than three thousand people was a big city.

After the Second Partition of Poland in 1793, a place in the Murafa of Old and New, belonging to different owners, was included in the Yampolsky district of the Podolsk province.

By the decision of the executive committee of the Vinnytsia regional council of May 22, 1986, the village of Zhdanovo and the village of Murafa were merged into one village of Zhdanovo [2] [3] .

Until 1989, it was called Zhdanovo , after which the historic name was returned to the village [4]
