History

The village has been known since the 18th century, originally called Rogue . In 1835 , the landowners of Charnomsky renamed the village to Charnomin , during the USSR the name changed to Chernomin .

Charnominsky Palace

Charnominsky Palace

In the 1810s , commissioned by landowner Nikolai Charnomsky, architect Francesco Boffo built a palace that resembled, according to amateurs, the White House in Washington [1] . The external similarity of mansions in the style of classicism in different countries is explained by the use of common Palladian models by architects. There is an unconfirmed version of the fact that the architect used the drawings of one of the most famous US buildings.

Once Nikolai Charnomsky bought the village from Tutomlin, the governor of the Podolsk region. Nikolai was authorized and lover of Sophia Witt-Potocki (the third wife of Stanislav Potocki , in whose honor he built Umansky Park "Sofiyivka" ). Having access to the money of Sofia Pototskaya, Charnomsky stole a large sum from her because he did not have enough money for the settlement of the village bought. Sophia, noticing the loss, pushed Charnomsky off the cash register, but did not demand a refund. After this, Charnomsky began to drift away from Potocki and began to arrange his estate. The village Nikolay Charnomsky decided to rename.

Industry

Until 2000, there was a sugar refinery, built back in 1859 by landowner Nikolai-Henrik Charnomsky, the son of Nikolai Charnomsky. The plant fell into disrepair during perestroika, immediately after the collapse of the USSR, and before that it was very large and had a large production.

Religion

In the village, the Church of the Nativity of the Most Holy Mother of God of the Peschansky Prospection of the Mogilyov-Podolsk Diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church operates [2] .
