The flag of the state of Colorado is a rectangular panel divided into three equal horizontal stripes. The upper and lower stripes are blue, the middle is white. In the middle of the flag, closer to the flagpole, is a round red letter “C” filled with a golden disk.
Blue color symbolizes heaven, gold - sunlight, white - snowy mountains, red - earth.
The flag was proposed by Andrew Carlisle Carson in 1911 and was officially approved as the state flag on June 5 of that year.
However, the law did not determine the size of the letter “C” and shades of blue and red. Thus, some flags differed in colors and the size of the letter “C”. On February 28, 1929, the State General Assembly added to the flag description that the blue and red colors would be the same color as the United States flag. March 31, 1964 , it was indicated that the diameter of the golden disk should be equal to 1/3 of the width of the flag.
