Title
The name of the city is translated from Tuvan as "white land". It is connected with the asbestos deposit, which is described in the Tuvan legend: “In ancient times, good and brave people lived here, they raised and grazed cattle. But once they were attacked by cruel warriors. For three days and three nights, brave people fought the enemy until the last warrior fell. The brutal khan ordered the surviving old men, widows and children to be burned on a high mountain peak. The earth turned black from grief, and the heart of a good people turned into an eternal stone - asbestos . "

The Tyvaasbest Combine is a city-forming enterprise of the city. The city arose simultaneously with the appearance of the plant in 1964. The plant produces long-fiber asbestos (there are no analogues in grade in Russia), slate and some other goods. After the collapse of the USSR in the 90s, the plant actually stopped and, having replaced several private owners, has recently been making attempts to resume work [21] [22] , including thanks to the participation of the government of the republic. Asbestos is mined in the quarry located north of the city. Also, the city has the second largest energy company in the republic - Ak-Dovurak TPP .
Cellular
In Ak-Dovurak, as in Kyzyl, there are four mobile operators - Beeline , MTS , MegaFon and ETK [23] .
