According to some Inca legends, he was the son of the sun god Inti and the goddess of the moon Mama Kilya and was sent by his father to Earth to save people from savagery and barbarism, teach agriculture and crafts and establish the cult of the "genuine" gods: the Sun, Moon and Pachakamak - “ the creator of the world. "
According to the Spanish chronicler Pedro Sarmiento de Gamboa (this is just one of many versions), Manco Capac, son of Tiksi Viracocha Pachayachachik (father, creator), came out of Mount Tampa - tokko (house of windows, caves; fortress) in the village of Pakkaritampu (the house of manufacture, creations - in 6 leagues from Cusco ) along with brothers and sisters. With a total of eight Incas, there are 10 genera - “ Ailho ”: Maras, Sutik-Tokko, Kuykusa, Maska, Oro, Tarpuntai, Sanjok, Chavin Cusco, Ayarak, Wakantaka (the last five belonged to Upper Cusco after the Pachacutec reform). One of the brothers was Ayar Auk , turned into a stone in the area of the future Cusco . The name of this city was translated as “Mezhevoy Stone”, because there was a proverb “Ayar Auk cusco vanq” - that is, a marble marginal stone. On the site of the future capital of the Incas, there already existed a settlement (or tribe) Savaser Panak. The village was destroyed. The city itself was divided into genera / neighborhood: Yarampuy Kancha, Quinti-Kancha, Chumpy-Kancha, Cyri-Kancha. In the center was - Intikancha (the house of the Sun - "temple, garrison"), inside which was located the house of Manco Capac.
According to legend, Manco Kapak ruled the state for about forty years, introduced a set of laws, and is believed to have abolished human sacrifices. He was married to his sister Oakllo and had a son Sinchi Roca from her, who became the next Inca . Manco Capac is believed to have reigned until around 1230 , although some historians attribute his death to 1107 .
The asteroid (475) Oakllo , discovered in 1901, was named after the sister and wife of Manco Capac Oakllo.
