Story
History of College. I.I. Polzunova began in the era of Peter I , in 1721 , when, at the initiative of V.N. Tatishchev , verbal and arithmetic schools were opened at the Alapaevsky, Kungursky and Uktusky state-owned factories.
In 1724, on the basis of the Uktus school , the Yekaterinburg Mining School was organized, which has become a major educational complex of the Urals. The expanded program of the school, in addition to general subjects, included special disciplines: mine surveying, artillery, mechanics, architecture, metallurgy.
On May 23, 1847, the “Regulation on the states of the main board of the Ural mountain treasury factories of the Ural ridge” established a new mining education system, and the Yekaterinburg Mining School was transformed into the Ural Mining School, which began to provide the mining industry of the Urals with qualified technical personnel.
Initially, the school was located in the building of the current gymnasium No. 9 , and has been in the new place since 1877 . During the 1905 revolution, it was temporarily closed to prevent unrest. During 1918 - 1928 , the school was repeatedly reorganized and renamed. At this time, the educational institution bore the following names: c January 11, 1918 - Ural Workers Polytechnic; since 1920 - Ural Practical Mining and Construction Institute; March 1922 - Ural Mining and Construction College; since 1926 - the Ural Industrial College; c 1928 - Sverdlovsk Mining and Metallurgical College. On June 17, 1947, the technical school was named after I. I. Polzunov, a graduate of the Yekaterinburg Mining School and “ Order of the Red Banner of Labor for services to the field of training personnel for the mining and metallurgical industries.” By order of the Committee of the Russian Federation for Metallurgy dated November 04, 1995 No. 138, the Sverdlovsk Mining and Metallurgical College named after I.I. Polzunov was transformed into a college and received the name Ural State College named after I.I. Polzunova.
Before the revolution, each academic year in the Ural Mining School began with a solemn service at the St. Athanasiev’s house church, built on the donation of the Ekaterinburg widow Evdokia Mikhailovna Obinyakova and consecrated in 1891 . The temple was closed in 1919 , and the church "on Plotinka" was demolished by order of the city authorities already in the 1960s .
