Group History

The band was formed in 1979 in Birmingham , England , by vocalist Colin Abrahall, guitarist Colin 'Jock' Blyth and drummer Andy Williams. GBH leader Colin Aubroll claims the impetus for music was the Ramones song “ Sheena Is a Punk Rocker ” he heard on the radio and adds that he himself initially wanted to be like Sid Vicious and become a bass player , but because inability to play was forced to take the place of vocalist. [3] Sean McCarthy became the bassist, who proposed the abbreviation GBH (Grievous Bodily Harm, Russian. Serious bodily harm ) taken from the criminal code as the name for the group [2] convicted under this article. [4] However, since another group with the same name already existed, it was changed to Charged GBH ( Russian. Charged grievous bodily harm ). [5] The word “Charged” was removed from the name in 1986 when the band switched to Captain Oi! Records . [four]

The debut album City Baby Attacked by Rats ( Clay Records , 1982) is considered one of the most influential albums of the second wave of punk rock. Following its release, GBH - along with Discharge , Broken Bones , The Exploited and The Varukers - led the movement known as UK-82.

Closer to the mid-1980s, the sound of GBH was noticeably tightened, they became one of the leading British punk metal bands, but faded into the shadows after the emergence of bands such as Slayer , who built a speed / thrash metal sound on the punk metal platform. The group continues to perform and record, still enjoying authority on the hardcore scene in Britain. [2]

On November 10, 2008 , speaking with Rancid in Nottingham , GBH announced that they had signed a new contract with Hellcat Records. The new album by Perfume & Piss was released on April 6, 2010 [6]
