San Felipe is the capital of the Venezuelan state of Yarakuy . The population is 103,121 inhabitants (as of 2006 ). The city is the seat of the Catholic Diocese of San Felipe.

History
In 1720, the Capuchin monks built a mission site. In 1729, San Felipe was founded. The earthquake of 1812 destroyed most of the city. Several ruins were intentionally left.

Museum Carmelo Fernandez
- Selva in the Yuribí National Park.
- In the center is the historic San Felipe el Fuerte park with ruins of earthquake-destroyed buildings
- In the park Exótica Flora Tropical, you can see the restored former Misión de Nuestra Señora del Carmen of 1720
- The Carmelo Fernandez Museum is an interdisciplinary museum of visual art in the region. It was opened in 1981 [1] .
