The country at the Summer Olympics was represented by only a few athletes, none of them won medals.
Teams at the Winter Games are more numerous and successful. On their account 10 medals: 2 gold, 2 silver and 6 bronze, all in skiing .
Six of Liechtenstein’s ten Olympic medals are won by Wenzel’s brother and sister. Hanni Wenzel won bronze in Innsbruck in 1976 , two gold and silver at Lake Placid four years later, and her brother Andreas won silver in Lake Placid and bronze in Sarajevo . Brothers Willy and Paul Fromlmetti brought Liechtenstein another bronze award.
Liechtenstein is one of the three countries in the history of the Olympics along with Austria and Norway , whose athletes won more awards at the Winter Games than at the Summer Games. At the same time, Liechtenstein is the only country whose athletes won Olympic medals only in winter.
