Biography

From the family of the hairdresser. After graduating from school in 1949 - 1953 he studied at a car mechanic. January 10, 1953 joined the Maritime People’s Police, the forerunner of the GDR Navy. In 1953-1955, Kant studied at the Naval Officer School in Stralsund (See-Offz. Lehranstalt Stralsund), which later became the Karl Liebknecht Naval High Officer School (Offiziershochschule "Karl Liebknecht"). In 1955 he became a member of the SED . In 1955 - 1956 he served as an officer in the operational planning department in the Naval People’s Police Department. In 1956 - 1958 he served as an officer on operational-tactical training in the command of the Navy of the GDR . In 1958 - 1959 he served in the 4th Volksmarin Flotilla. In 1959 - 1961 he studied at the Higher Naval School. Karl Liebknecht. In 1962 - 1963 he served as the chief of staff of the 4th division of border ships (4. Grenzbootabt.) In the 6th border brigade of the coast (6. Grenzbrigade Küste), and in 1963-1964 he already headed this 4th division of border ships . In 1964 - 1968 he studied at the Military Academy of the NNA them. Friedrich Engels. In 1968 - 1969 he again held the post of commander of the 4th division of border ships (Chef 4. Grenzbootabt.) In the 6th border brigade of the coast. In 1969 - 1971 he served as first deputy commander of the 6th Coast Frontier Brigade. In 1971 - 1972 he commanded the 4th Guard Brigade (4. Sicherungsbrigade) (4th Flotilla). In 1972 - 1976 he served as chief of staff and deputy commander of the 4th Flotilla of the Volksmarine . In 1976 - 1980 he commanded the 4th Volksmarine Flotilla. October 7, 1979 he was awarded the title of Rear Admiral. In 1980 - 1984 he served as deputy chief of staff of the Volksmarine for organizational matters. In 1984 - 1990, he led the Higher Officer School of the Navy. Karl Liebknecht in Stralsund . September 30, 1990 dismissed.

He died on December 30, 2015 [1] .
