Biography
Born in a family of employees. Jew . Member of the CPSU since 1943. He graduated from 10 classes. Since 1941, he worked as secretary of the Komsomol district committee in Barnaul . In the Red Army since 1942. In 1943 he graduated from the Lepel Military Mortar School.
In the army since April 1943. In the battle on December 5, 1944, in the area of the village of Sinatelen (south of Budapest , Hungary), he was among the first to cross the Danube on a raft. During the crossing, he adjusted the fire at enemy firing points, which interfered with the advancement of rifle units. Moving in the battle formations of shooters, with mortar fire destroyed 2 easel machine guns, an anti-tank gun and up to two enemy infantry platoons. Participated in repelling 3 enemy counterattacks. The title of Hero was awarded on March 24, 1945.
Since 1946, the officer-educator of the Moscow Artillery Preparatory School. In 1952 he graduated from the Military-Political Academy. Lenin . Since 1963 - in stock. In 1963-1972 he taught at the Moscow Institute of Fine Arts. V.V. Kuybysheva . Since 1979 - Deputy Director of the Central Interdepartmental Institute for Advanced Studies of Construction Managers at IISI named after V.V. Kuybysheva.
He was buried in Moscow at the Kuzminsky cemetery [1] .
Rewards
By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of March 24, 1945, for the exemplary performance of command missions at the front of the struggle against Nazi invaders and the courage and heroism shown to them, Senior Lieutenant Selsky Semyon Petrovich was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union with the Order of Lenin and the Golden Star medal ”(No. 8018).
He was awarded the Order of the Red Banner, three orders of the Patriotic War of the 1st degree, orders of the Red Star, "Badge of Honor", and medals. Candidate of Historical Sciences (1968).
Memory
The name is immortalized at the Glory Memorial in the city of Barnaul, on the Mamaev Kurgan in Volgograd and in the Hall of Fame on Poklonnaya Hill in Moscow.
