Content
Education and degrees
He graduated from the University of Athens (1986), since then lives and works in Russia. He studied in the graduate school of the philological faculty of Moscow State University under the guidance of Boris Uspensky , defended his thesis “The philological activity of the Likhud brothers in Russia” (1992), which was devoted to the first steps of higher education in Russia and its theoretical philological foundations. In June 2001, he defended his doctoral thesis on the “Importance of the activities of the Likhud brothers in the light of Greek, Latin and Slavic manuscripts and documents from Russian and European collections.
Scientific Activities
Pedagogical and diplomatic activities
Since 1996 he has been teaching at Moscow State University, in 1997 he became the first head of the newly established Department of Byzantine and Modern Greek Philology. At the same time (since 1994) he has been serving as a cultural advisor at the Greek Embassy in Moscow.
Creativity
The author of poetry collections “Night Ride of Paul Revere” (Athens, 1980), “A World Without Poets” (Moscow, 2004. The author of the libretto of the opera “Station” (music. Alexey Syumak), the stage cantata “The Goddesses from the Machine” (music. Andreas Mustukis), directed by Kirill Serebrennikov (conducted by Theodore Currentzis ) in 2008 at the Territory festival in Moscow, as well as the operas “Asteroid 62” (music. Dmitry Kurland ). Author of poetic texts for the play Moscow Art Theater. A.P. Chekhov “Kizhe” (director Kirill Serebrennikov ). The author of the libretto “Requiem” (music. Alexey Sumak ) - the first performance of the Moscow Art Theater. A.P. Chekhov (director Kirill Serebrennikov). For 2014, it is planned to stage the opera “Nosferatu” (music by Dmitry Kurlyandsky) at the Perm Opera and Ballet Theater. Directed by Theodoros Terzopoulos . Conductor Theodore Currentzis. The famous Italian painter Yiannis Kunellis will take part in its design.
