History
The society was founded in 1836 under the original name Botanical Society of London . It includes professional botanists and amateurs, as well as organizations engaged in the study of plants in the British Isles.
The company publishes reference books, atlases, reviews and magazines, holds conferences, presents grants, scholarships and awards, sets professional standards (together with the Field Identification Skills Certificate , FISC), and advises the government. [one]
