HD 114762 A b is located in the F-class star HD 114762 A at a distance of 132 light years from the Sun. It revolves around its star in an elongated orbit ( eccentricity 0.3359) in almost three months (83 days), at a distance of 0.363 (0.241-0.485) a. e. (that is, approximately, like Mercury from the Sun). Since the upper bar of the maximum mass has not been determined, HD 114762 A b may not be an exoplanet , but a brown dwarf . The minimum mass of HD 114762 A b is 11 masses of Jupiter . Optically, this companion was not detected. If it turns out that HD 114762 A b is an exoplanet, then it will be the second, after Gamma Cepheus A b , an extrasolar planet discovered (but not confirmed) before the discovery of exoplanets in 1991 with the pulsar PSR B1257 + 12 and in 1995 with the star 51 Pegasus .
