Victor Lore was educated at the Sorbonne in parallel with Gaston Maspero and became chairman of the Antiquities Service in 1897 . Since the discovery of the tomb of Amenhotep II ( KV35 ) in 1898 , he conducted regular research on tombs in the Valley of the Kings. In the tomb KV35, in addition to Amenhotep II himself, mummies of such pharaohs as Thutmose IV , Amenhotep III and Merneptah, hidden there at the beginning of the XXI dynasty of the Third transitional period, were also found.
Victor Loret also discovered and explored the tombs KV32 , KV33 , KV36 , KV38 , KV40 , KV41 and KV42 . In addition, he is considered the discoverer of the tomb of Thutmose III ( KV34 ), however, some experts who give the palm to one of his employees disagree.
